Frances Widdowson received an Honours B.A. and M.A. in political science at the University of Victoria, and a Ph.D. in political science from York University. She has taught at a number of universities in Ontario and the Maritimes, and worked for five years as a policy analyst for the Government of the Northwest Territories. Frances uses a political economy perspective in her research on aboriginal and environmental policy, as well as the politics of religion. Her most recent publication (co-written with Albert Howard), Disrobing the Aboriginal Industry: The Deception Behind Indigenous Cultural Preservation, was short-listed for the Donner Prize. She is currently working on another book (also with Albert Howard) on the social effects of religion.
