Nathan C. Nickel is a Research Scientist at the Centre and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba.
Dr. Nickel uses administrative data to conduct policy-focused health outcomes research as well as research into the organization of the healthcare system. Specifically, Nathan’s research interests include (1) healthcare utilization / health outcomes research applying causal inference methodologies, (2) maternal and child health research from a life-course perspective, (3) policy research vis-à-vis socioeconomic inequalities in health, (4) policies and practices to support breastfeeding mother-infant dyads, and (5) organization and costing in the healthcare system. Nathan is a member of the Core PI Team on PATHS Equity for Children, a multi-year grant aimed at identifying what works to reduce child health inequities.
